If you’re a single and are looking for someplace to break a sweat you will not have trouble. Pools, tennis, golf, soccer leagues, basketball… you name it. You will find it here. And all the same gyms you belonged to in the City are here too. Want to know a secret? The gyms are bigger here. They’re cleaner typically. Sometimes they are cheaper and less crowded. Soul Cycle, Pure Barre, Equinox, NY Sportsclub, Planet Fitness, you name it.
All right sports loving daddies and mommies. If you’ve got a kid and are thinking something along the lines of: “I’m not gonna push him/her into playing the sport but if she/he develops a healthy interest in baseball/tennis/soccer/gymnastics/etc. how can it hurt? I mean she/he might not play pro but they could always go D1 and get a scholarship. Right?”
I’m with you. So I had our first daughter on a tennis court two weeks after she could walk? What’s wrong with that? If you are looking for the low key swarm soccer for kindergartners or some intense batting or pitching coaching Westchester has a place for you. The list is endless so I’m going to just throw out a few for now and in future months I anticipate focusing on some other facilities. But so far, virtually every town I’ve investigated has an indoor soccer/batting practice option or indoor tennis court within the town or at most within a couple miles of the town limits. I’m including bowling in this list too.
During the summers you can find tons of public parks which include tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and host little leagues and peewee soccer programs. I reference some of these parks in the parks page on this website.
